About Us
At In Spite of Ourselves LLC, we believe that good food, honest work, and a little humor can make life better — even when things don’t go as planned. What started as a small dream on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has grown into a working farm rooted in stewardship, sustainability, and simple living.
We raise pasture-raised, grain-fed beef and chickens the way nature intended — out in the sunshine, grazing and foraging on open pasture. Our cattle are primarily Jersey and Angus-Jersey crosses, producing richly marbled, flavorful beef that’s custom cut to your preference. Our poultry enjoy a life on grass (an in our yard, barn, sidewalks and an occasional visit into our garage- they own the joint, we just live here), helping us improve soil health while providing wholesome, delicious meat and eggs you can feel good about serving your family.
Every part of our farm works together with purpose. From our animals, we hand-render pure tallow, transforming it into small-batch, handcrafted products like whipped balms, heel sticks, and pet-safe paw balms — simple, effective, and made with ingredients you can pronounce. To cut down on waste and plastic use, we also craft reusable beeswax wraps using beeswax, pine rosin, jojoba oil and 100% cotton — a natural way to keep your food fresh while caring for the planet.
We’re not a big operation — and that’s exactly how we like it. Every steer, chicken, and jar that leaves our farm represents the care, time, and love we pour into this work. Whether you’re filling your freezer, nourishing your skin, or making your kitchen a little more sustainable, we’re grateful to share a piece of our farm with you.
Because here, everything we do is In Spite of Ourselves — with faith, grit, and a whole lot of heart.
Thanks for considering us!
